Smoking Ban in New York…

Published on: January 18, 2003

Someone should tell Mayor Bloomberg that he should be more concerned, as far as the bars go, with those leaving who are DUI.  Drinkers are dangerous, too. Yes, the restaurants will take a hit financially.  If they want the business, they'll have to open separate smoking lounges as some airports now do.  Of course, if prohibition ever comes back they may as well close....but then again many lives will be directly saved.  Of course, if the 'mayor' is really concerned about the health of those in the city, maybe he should ban all cars, taxis, buses, etc., from entering the city.  Surely, the fumes of these vehicles is much more dangerous.  Also, I wonder what NYC did with the big cigarette refund they received from the Feds.....probably just put it in the 'till' instead of using it to help the smokers...just like all the other towns and cities did.
