NOISE!!

It's NOT just elevator music any more. It's...NOISE...EVERYWHERE! No one is free from/safe from the music, and I use that word reluctantly, and refer to ALL of this kind horribly offensive, revolting thumping, pounding, shrieking (vocal ?),obnoxious, unavoidable, forced upon to the point of nausea, type of audio intrusion as: NOISE!!
Literally, what is mistakenly called "music" is everywhere a person goes. Beginning with the Whole Foods at University Blvd. and ColoradoBlvd/Highlands Ranch Parkway, my husband and I have decided to launch a silent protest about this. It is SO annoying and offensive I have thought quite often that I will discontinue shopping at this store. How foolish this would be because EVERY store I go into bombards my audio nerves and brain with such constant stimuli that, were I to stop going to EVERY store, I would starve from lack of nutrition. BUT, I would indeed be free from the... NOISE!!
Is there a solution to this problem ? Surely we are not the only people in society who are offended by this. Kristen Browning-Blas, Food Editor for The Denver Post has an article in today's paper, January 20, 2003, called "Extreme Supermarkets," which she states she gleaned some information from your website as well as other sources. In the very cleverly done graphic by Thomas McKay , there was no sketched or/and verbal indication of a pulsating LOUD SPEAKER from above or, heaven forbid, anywhere else. Is this TOO GOOD to be true, that finally there will be NO NOISE , or was this just an unfortunate over sight on the artist's part? Please tell me it will be true !! Hopefully my "voice" has made a point, and it will launch a vigorous protest against NOISE. Maybe it/ours can be added to a list already begun by another who has also suffered this indignity long enough. Charlotte Littleton, Colorado
