Whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa, or merely acknowledge the Winter Solstice, it's so much fun to give something that is special to those you care about. Naturally, we think at least some of your gifts should include coffee, so here are a few ideas to inspire.
LIGHT SOMEONE'S FIRE
For cold winter nights, nothing warms the heart and the body like a rich fire. For those friends with a coveted fireplace and a sensitivity to preserving our planet, nothing spells perfect more than Java-Log, made of dried coffee grounds and renewable vegetable wax packed into a tube. Invented in 1998 by Rod Sprules, the Java-log burns for two to three hours, is clean-burning, high-energy, and uses recycled coffee! These have three times the flame per unit than word, and coffee gives off 25% more energy without as much emissions as wood can. Best of all it saves 42 million kg or more than 40 million tons of coffee waste from being dumped into landfills. For more information access www.java-log.com.
PUT SOME RHYTHM OUT THERE
Both kids and adults alike will love the sound these home-made maracas can make, and it's a recycling product that pleases Mother Nature and Mom both at once. Here's all you need:
Put equal amounts of beans in each cup. Glue the two cups together open rim to rim and allow to dry, then wrap masking tape around the rims for additional support. Paint the "shaker" with any image you like and glue the decorative bits on with glue, if you want to use them. Allow to dry, then shake, rattle 'n roll!
DIAL UP COFFEE
We think coffees are the very best gift of all, and, to make it easy to order, you can go online or stock up on coupons.
