According to Beverage Digest Coca-Cola will introduce a nutrient-enhanced version of Diet Coke, the Diet Coke Plus, in spring 2007. Without a doubt, this is in response to Pepsi's announcement of a vitamin-enhanced soda called Tava.
With all the press lately about sodas and its connection to obesity in young kids, did you ever think soda could be good for your health? Well this new ploy is an attempt at that and we think a chemical-infused soft drink infused with vitamins is low. What seems to be at odds with the concept is actually using an artificial sweetener, since we doubt that either company would be so daring to use Stevia, which frankly could help reinforce their "healthier" foray.
We would guess, without seeing the ingredients, nutritionals or even having a sip, that these new products will be designed to give the impression of "healthfulness" ... question is whether or not they will actually live up to the claim.
