It's Chanukah time! And you don't have to be Jewish to enjoy these traditional recipes with some zest. Executive Chef Julian Medina, owner of one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, Zócalo, shares his family favorites with SupermarketGuru.
Ingredients 2 Idaho potatoes 1 egg yolk 1/2 cup of matzo meal 1 chopped jalapeño 1 Tbsp kosher salt 1 Tbsp dry Mexican oregano 1/4 cup oil for frying
Steal This Recipe® step-by-step Instructions 1. Peel and shave the potatoes very thin with a grater 2. Add the egg yolk, jalapeño, salt, oregano and matzo meal 3. Mix well and let it cool in the fridge for 30 minutes 4. Heat the oil in a pan at 350 degrees 5. Add one tablespoon of the mixture and fry (do not fry more than six pieces in the pan at the same time) until golden brown 6. Place them in a platter on top of a paper towel and sprinkle more salt if needed
