Your Bagel Story...

Even though I'm Jewish, I didn't have a bagel until I was in my twenties. For some reason they had never appealed to me [until] then. I had a friend that couldn't believe I had never eaten one so she gave me a pixie in a fake bagel as a gag Christmas gift. The first year my husband and I were married we didn't have anything to put on top of our Christmas tree (my husband isn't Jewish) so we put the bagel there and it became a tradition for many years. It lost its perch when my son became embarrassed because we didn't conform to his friend's decorations, but after 31 years it still has a place in our home.
