Out of shoppers' mouths:

In last week's Newsflash, we reported on a new technology that's coming to the stores - here's what your shoppers have to say about this "innovation." >>>To sign up to receive our weekly e-mail newsflash CLICK HERE SG REPORT: Look at that shopping cart carefully! A test is underway to track exactly where you travel in your supermarket and how long you stand in front of each product. Computer-like chips (called radio tags) are being attached to shopping baskets and carts which will read a shoppers location every four seconds giving retailers and brands yet anther tool to hone their marketing techniques. TELL ME YOUR OPINION - GOOD OR BAD IDEA? SG CONSUMER PANEL RESPONDS: From L.A.F., Rochester, NYÉ Good Idea! Get rid of the products that take up the space needed for the things that we are interested in! From B.H., Reading, England Ref: your news tidbit on trolleys with chips to see how long people stand in front of various products - how does the chip know whether or not they've just stopped to chat with a friend (or meet someone new)? Maybe it isn't the item on the shelf that's the attraction. From G.L., Doraville, GA NO, NO, no computer chips on shopping carts... Whatever happened to our privacy laws, hey???? From E.H., Pahrump, NV I don't think these things should be placed in shoppers' carts to let them know which aisles the consumer is in and at what products they're looking at. If these companies can't tell by their sales and profits, they need to go in another line of business!!
