VR Experience of Pig Farms Creates More Transparency

A new video series by the National Pork Board offers virtual reality experience of pig farms.

Consumers, the food industry, and animal rights organizations have for years now raised concerns about the humane treatment of animals within the pork industry. And as many manufacturers and big food companies have vowed to follow animal welfare guidelines, a new video series by the National Pork Board is now offering farmers and manufacturers the ability to share via a virtual reality experience firsthand gestationfarrowingnursery and finishing barns. The goal is to use technology to create more transparency and showcase how the industry is making efforts to ensure the well-being of farm animals raised by farmers that are following the We CareSM ethical principles.

Pork Checkoff leaders will showcase the videos, which can be viewed on Youtube, Facebook or through a VR headset, and highlight the nutritional benefits of pork at the 2019 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) held Oct. 26-29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
