Ingredients:
1 quart fresh water
¾ cup coffee grounds

Directions:
In an enamel or metal saucepan or coffeepot, pour in the water, set it over the flame and set to boil. When the water is boiling, add the grounds directly into the water and return to the boil, then remove the pan or pot from the heat and set it down on dirt, not gravel. Cover and allow the grounds to sink to the bottom, about five minutes. If you brought along a hand towel, wrap the pot with it to preserve the heat or, if you're at the beach, "bury" the pot in the sand to keep it warm, but only up to ½" under the spout or you'll have grains of sand in the coffee. Serve. NOTE: When hiking or camping at very high elevations, add more coffee grounds to compensate for the lower-than-boiling temperature that occurs at such altitudes.
